Mixed Methods

One of the more interesting approaches to research involves a combination of both qualitative and quantitative methods.  There are advantages to making use of both types of research to understand a problem.  Take a look at the video here about telling a story using mixed methods by Dr. John Creswell, an educational psychologist at the University of Nebraska who has pioneered the use of mixed methods in research.

Dr. Creswell provides some very helpful thoughts about how one can tell a story about someone’s life through using mixed research methods and also how that can add to knowledge.  Next is one more video from Dr. Creswell.  This one goes into more detail about how he approaches mixed methods research.
